FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
This FAQ page is here to help answer some questions I believe people would ask and have in common. If you have a question that you believe would be helpful to others, please email Her Royal Majesty Mary I Elizabeth Gomeric personally and Her Royal Majesty will not only answer your question personally through e-mail, but also publish it here, on the site along with the answer, for everyone else to see as well. Note: Please be sure to put in your subject box that you are submitting a question concerning N. S. or its official site or anything pertaining to a relation thereof. What is a Micro-nation and what sets New Scotland apart from other Micro-nations?
Dictionary.reference.com defines a Micro-nation as being "an entity, typically existing only on the internet or within the private property of its members, that lays claim to sovereign status as an independent nation, but which is unrecognized by real nations". *Note: Please take into your personal consideration that the word real as mentioned above is part of the direct quote from Dictionary.reference.com, and is in no way the feeling or belief of New Scotland or anyone associated with it thereof. New Scotland does avidly affirm its claim to sovereignty and does not care to respect those whom do not share its beliefs of said affirmation without due cause, and without the consideration of said persons or places, etc. whom have not considered the sovereignty of New Scotland in all respects.
The difference between other Micro-nations and New Scotland, is that we aim to be greater than just a Micro-nation, but be recognised by all other nations, Macro- and Micro-nations, and to eventually grow into a Macro-nation in its own respect.
New Scotland stands apart from other Micro-nations in that it has quite ambitious plans to be enacted in the near, moderate, and far future. Such plans include reaching an international diplomatic status as a Macro-nation, and reaching out into the public(s) of the world via other sources and methods besides the internet. HRM Mary I Elizabeth Gomeric hopes that the internet will become superfluous to the livelihood and existence of New Scotland as the country branches out.

New Scotland is an Absolute Monarchy "to a certain extent"; what does the "certain extent" entail?
Yes, New Scotland is an Absolute Monarchy to a certain extent, meaning that the people have certain rights that they are entitled to and given by the government, but there are other aspects of the New Scotlandish culture, government, etc. that are fully ruled by the Monarch/government (i.e., school curriculum, occupational and trade guilds, building, deconstruction, clearing of land, imports and exports, incoming and outgoing travel, to name a few). The rights observed and given by the government are as follows: Freedom of the press and of speech insofar as the words, thoughts, actions, etc. do not appertain maliciously towards the Monarch, the Royal Family, the government, the culture, or the way of life of the people of New Scotland (for full detail please see the Laws, Rules and Regulations of New Scotland page), freedom of religion, and the freedom of marriage equality (for other inquiries regarding marriage, divorce, and re-marriage where regarding permission or lack there of, please see the Laws, Rules, and Regulations of New Scotland page).
Are there any specific qualifications to become a citizen, and if so, what are they?
No, there are no "set-in-stone" qualifications to become a citizen of New Scotland. Once you send in your application it will be reviewed and either accepted or declined, but there are no true "qualifications". Her Royal Majesty, and the New Scotlandish government, only ask that you be earnest about your citizenship and that you do not view it as a LARP (Live Action Role Play), a game, etc. We are a legitimate nation and request that we be respected as such. All persons whom are granted New Scotlandish Citizenship are, however, required to state as such to those whom inquire after their Citizenship, inquire regarding their views of Micro-nationality/sovereignty, etc.
Are there any specific qualifications to become an employee of the government in all its respective branches, and if so, what are they?
Her Royal Majesty takes all applications for governmental employment into great consideration; as such, all applicants are asked to specify which branch of the N. S. government they would prefer to be employed within and their qualifications for employment in the aforementioned branch set down by themselves. All applicants are required to become a citizen of New Scotland prior to the submission to Her Royal Majesty of their employment application(s). Also, all persons seeking employment within the boundaries of New Scotland and all its territories must become citizens of N. S. before they are considered for employment; the same may be said of Guild Memberships, etc.
Her Majesty would like it noted that, at this time, all applications for employment are on a voluntary basis only. This means that all employees of Her Majesty's Government are considered volunteers and their services to Her Majesty and to New Scotland are only rewarded by gratitude and the applicant/employee's own happiness of being granted the privilege of the same.
